Tincturing 101: Creating Botanical Tinctures for Fragrance Formulation ONLINE September 26, 2026

Novice level class This fun online natural botanical perfumery class assumes no previous perfumery experience and is suitable for all. The class will take place Saturday September 26th, 2026 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Anyone Interested in learning how to create botanical fragrances by utilizing handcrafted tinctures made from plants. WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE? A basic working knowledge of tincturing specifically for fragrance formulation. Each student will create three botanical tinctures during class under the guidance of the instructor. WHAT MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS FEE? Registered students will receive a natural perfumery tincturing kit shipped prior to the class date. The materials kit for this class is to be used for in-class exercises and includes three botanical ingredients for successful tincturing, labware, labels, samples of aged tinctures and/or botanical perfumes formulated by Charna Ethier utilizing tinctures as reference materials. Please note all the materials included in the kit sent to registered students are included in the class registration fee. WHAT WILL I LEARN? How to create tinctures for natural perfumery formulation using plants and ethanol. From herbs to flowers, fruit to grasses, spices to legumes, vegetables to minerals . . . you will learn how to extract fragrance from botanical materials for scent formulation. Students will create three different tinctures in class that can be used for future formulations. WHO IS TEACHING ME? Your instructor, the fabulous Charna Ethier, is the nose and founder of Providence Perfume Co., an award winning natural perfumery specializing in luxurious botanical fragrances utilizing tinctures. Charna has over 15 years of industry experience. Her perfumes have been featured in numerous magazines and print publications such as W magazine, The Los Angeles Times, The NY Times, and her Fifi award nominated fragrances have received critical acclaim throughout the fragrance industry. ******************************************************************************************************************************************* IMPORTANT: Please note that all classes are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. This class will run online via Zoom. Students will need internet access and access to a free Zoom account prior to date of class. All materials used in this class are included in the class price with the exception of perfumers alcohol and a small beaker or measuring cup. Students are responsible for procuring approximately six ounces of ethanol (perfumers alcohol) in order to participate in the class exercises.
