Born from mud, meat, and muscle, Kenton got its start packing beef and stacking bricks — a full-on company town built around stockyards, slaughterhouses, and a whole lotta grit. Streetcars rolled in, laborers clocked out, and the air smelled like ambition (and cows). By 1911, Kenton was its own city — briefly — before Portland annexed it like a jealous neighbor. The crown jewel? A 31-foot concrete Paul Bunyan, planted right on Denver Ave in 1959 for the Oregon Centennial. He’s still standing watch, looking vaguely annoyed at gentrification. Today, Kenton’s got indie shops in old storefronts, backyard fire pits, a jail turned library (seriously), and a vibe that says "yeah, we’re cool — but not on purpose." Wear it if you’ve ever admired a giant lumberjack while sipping a beer next to a mechanic’s yard.
