It's very clever and very effective. Please note that this makes them directional - plug them in the right way round! As you go up the range, they sound better; in the right system, ClearwayX is great and detailed; ShawlineX will soften the top end somewhat; EpicX is brilliantly cohesive, informative, yet comfortable.
