Whispering Waters · Black Label · Coming Soon Springbank 1995 Thirty years in a single refill sherry butt. One owner before us. Never moved from Springbank's own dunnage warehouses in Campbeltown. Our first Campbeltown release, and the finest cask we have ever offered. 30 Years Old 1995 Vintage ~53% Est. ABV 400 Bottles 01The Cask Some casks are found. This one was kept. Filled at Springbank in 1995 into a single refill sherry butt, it spent its entire life under a single owner before us, in the distillery's own dunnage warehouses, yards from the stills that made it. Never re-racked. Never moved. Thirty years of slow Campbeltown air and gentle sherry oak, left completely alone. Refill matters here, and it is the reason to be interested rather than a caveat. A first-fill sherry butt over thirty years would have buried this spirit under dried fruit and tannin. A refill butt gives you the sherry as seasoning instead of subject: the oily, coastal, faintly smoky Springbank character stays in the front of the glass, with three decades of oak behind it. This is the cask type collectors of aged Springbank actually chase. Regauged in August 2026 at 196 RLA and approximately 53% ABV. For a thirty-year cask to hold that strength is a sign of a cool, undisturbed maturation done exactly right. The final bottling strength will be confirmed when the cask is emptied. We thought the Macduff 45 was our ceiling. This cask resets it. Jay Roberts, Founder · The Whiskey Lab 02Why Springbank Matters Springbank is the most sought-after distillery in Scotland. Family-owned since 1828, it malts its own barley on its own floors, runs a tiny output, and sells every bottle it makes many times over. Allocation lines form for its standard releases. Independent single casks at thirty years essentially do not leave the gates. The distillery Founded: 1828, Campbeltown Owner: J & A Mitchell, the same family for nearly two centuries Style: Oily, coastal, lightly smoky single malt, floor-malted on site, distilled two and a half times. The most traditional production process in Scotland, unchanged for generations. Why this is rare Campbeltown was once the whisky capital of the world. Three distilleries survive, and Springbank is its crown. Aged Springbank is among the scarcest whisky on earth: the distillery is small, demand is global, and casks this old under private ownership are nearly extinct. A single cask held full term by one owner for thirty years is the rarest form it takes. 03The Cask's Journey 1995 Distilled at Springbank. Filled into a refill sherry butt and laid down in the dunnage warehouse beside the stills. 1995–2026 A single owner for thirty years. Never moved, never re-racked. Aug 2026 Regauged at 196 RLA. Acquired by The Whiskey Lab, the cask's second owner in thirty years. Mid-Nov 2026 Arrives stateside. 400 bottles, each hand numbered and sealed in black wax. Black Label · The Third Release of 2026 The Rarest Tier We Bottle Black Label is reserved for casks that redefine what Whispering Waters can be. Two releases have carried it in 2026. This is the third, and the first from Campbeltown. Every bottle wears the Whispering Waters black cap, hand-dipped in black wax over the closure, and is individually hand numbered. The bottle shot follows once the release is confirmed. 04Why $1,500 You should know what you are looking at when you decide whether this price is fair. So here is the comparison that matters. The market comparable Springbank's own thirty year old is a vatting of multiple casks, reduced in strength. Its wholesale price sits roughly 40% above what we are asking at retail. Not its shelf price. Its wholesale price. Which means a shop buying the official bottling pays more for it than you pay us for a single cask at full strength. Independent thirty year Springbanks, when they surface at all, run higher still. What the price buys Thirty years of single-cask maturation at Scotland's most allocated distillery. Full term in one refill sherry butt, not a finishing cask. Bottled at cask strength, not reduced. Provenance that reads in one line: one cask, one warehouse, one owner, from 1995 until it came to us. We could have priced to the market. We chose not to, because we want these 400 bottles opened by drinkers, not sealed in vaults.
