An exceptional large pair of 19th century Italian carved walnut Renaissance Revival statue wall brackets, circa 1850. This remarkable pair of mid-19th-century Italian Renaissance Revival caryatid wall brackets are masterfully hand-carved from solid, deep-toned walnut. Dating to circa 1850, each architectural element features an integrated shelf at the top supported by a very finely sculpted female form. The figures are crowned with classical Ionic scroll capitals directly beneath the bracket shelves, the bases are heavily adorned with fruiting floral swags, scrolling volutes, and the bases terminate to acanthus leaves. Both carved statue brackets are in excellent antique condition, they are substantial at over three feet tall retaining their beautiful original patinated finish. With their impressive scale, these versatile pieces serve beautifully as monumental wall shelves or decorative brackets to display fine porcelain or sculpture or clocks.
