Acoustics in Community Centres

Community Centres have broad and varying acoustic issues depending on the type of Community facilities they provide, which can combine a number of activities in the one centre. Community Centres can accommodate Libraries, Theatres, Large open Halls for Sports, Dance, Exercise or music activities, Smaller group meeting and activity rooms, Swimming facilities, etc: all these different activities need to be individually addressed in order to utilise the entire centre space effectively. Disruptive noise from within each space can affect the adjoining spaces therefore it is extremely important that acoustic treatments are planned, considered and positioned to treat the different noise levels from within each space, their surroundings and also external noise sources that may affect quiet areas such as libraries in the Centre. Employing the correct acoustic materials to address the appropriate noise sources is crucial to ensure uninterrupted activity in each of the activity spaces within the community centre.
