The American Bison is the largest terrestrial animal in North America. They range from 900-2200 pounds, males being slightly larger than females. Though large, they are surprisingly fast, reaching speeds up to 35 mph. Both sexes have short, curved horns that can grow up to 2 feet long. The have a simple diet mainly of grass and low lying shrubbery.
