The SF- A Modern Super Fuzz

San Francisco has been the place of my dreams ever since I lived there as a kid. Those who feel it, there is something magic there. Thus, this circuit houses the same liminal space I feel when in the wonderful foggy city. I have vivid memories of driving late at night on the long freeways, crossing bridges covered in fog with the darkness of sky, feeling a sense of being in a dream like state. Super Fuzz abbreviates to the same initials, therefore, correlation. What I love do here at twilight/midnight electronics is take a classic circuit, reimagine, unshackle it, and hand back to the player. I spend a lot of time playing each classic circuit in different contexts, seeing where I feel it can be improved or expanded upon, then experiment with the implementation. The SF is a deeply respectful rework of the legendary Super Fuzz, retaining the raw, upper-octave chaos that defined an era, while offering far more control than the original allowed. No longer trapped with only a tone switch, a gain knob, and a volume knob, this version has the following features: Clip Mode Switch – Choose between a more compressed, vintage-style clipping or the aggressive, open sound of modern silicon. The vintage setting offers that wooly, lower-output sizzle known from countless bootleg-era fuzz tones. Set the clip in the middle, to remove the limitations of diodes, for the rawest, most unpredictable and chaotic sound possible. External Bias Control – Shape the heart of the circuit by dialing in transistor behavior directly. Crackling gate fizz. Perfectly balanced saturation. Or tortured, velcroed decay. You choose where the madness begins. This device here is a harmonic generating device that creates frequency clashing, note instability, and chord chaos. It is extremely harmonically complex and almost unpredictable with its over and undertones. Soaring above the cloud leads, robotic abrasive rhythms, screaming and shrieking rasp, everyone needs a super fuzz pedal in their lives. One of my favorite tones, is pairing this with a reverb, it feels like just soaring above the clouds. Each unit is handcrafted with premium components, built with intention, and finished as a tribute to one of the most revered fuzz circuits in history. I present my perception of the liminal energy of the foggy city, in stomp box form. COLORS- Please note that the raw aluminum finish option is built fresh to order, and may feature different components as I use what I have in stock and each build uses hand selected components. The circuit will be built in a raw aluminum case with no paint, but will get lightly sand polished.
