IWC Automatic Elegance from the 1950s IWC has always balanced two worlds remarkably well: robust professional watches and quietly elegant dress pieces. This 1950s IWC in 18k yellow gold represents the latter at its finest. The beautifully proportioned 34 mm case with Bombé lugs is designed to appear particularly slim from the side, allowing the watch to slip effortlessly beneath a shirt or jacket cuff. Its untouched golden dial has developed a subtle, even patina over the decades, giving the watch exactly the warmth and character we look for in a well-preserved vintage piece. Inside beats the IWC Cal. 852, an automatic movement from one of the manufacture's most important post-war periods. Its efficient automatic winding system and robust construction helped establish IWC's reputation for producing sophisticated movements designed for everyday reliability. Due to the watch's monocoque case construction, the movement is accessed from the dial side. We therefore decided not to open the watch solely for photography; it has, however, been professionally serviced and is running in great condition.
