Gibson SG-III Custom | Seafoam Green | USA | 1972

This seriously cool, customized vintage early 70s Gibson SG-III has been given a professional going over to turn this into an eye catching, one off, no nonsense rock and roll machine. Said to originally be a 2 pickup SG-III, this instrument has had the original mini humbuckers removed, the neck pickup route filled, refretted, and the bridge converted from wrap around to a separated stop tail/adjustamatic configuration. All these mods have been tied together with a gloss seafoam green. Serial numbers from this era are notorious for their inconsistency and overall uselessness in pinpointing a date of manufacture. However, all apparent traits of this guitar point to it being of 1972 manufacture or possibly late 71 or early 73. Both volume and tone pot also have the date code conveniently soldered over. What we can confidently say that this early 70s rock and roll machine is a certified screamer. This guitar is equipped with a DiMarzio phantom P90, which, when compared to a standard P90, gives a punchier, slightly more compressed output, delivering an increase in low mids - providing slightly less p90 ‘bark’ and a thicker, low midrange ‘growl’ - all while remaining totally silent due to its hum cancelling design.
