Peter, Pamela and Percy in the Big Spill

This book is based on the true story of the ship the 'Treasure' which sank in June 2000 just north of Cape Town causing a huge oil slick that harmed thousands of sea birds. Help came from far and wide in the biggest environmental clean-up operation the world has ever seen - 43 000 penguins were rescued in total. Clean penguins were shipped from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth by truck to swim back to Cape Town in order to buy time to clean the beaches and sea. The whole world tracked the progress of three rescued penguins, Peter, Pamela and Percy, on their swim back to Cape Town. It's a delightful book suitable for three- to seven-year-olds.
