Nautilus, 5712/1R-001

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712/1R-001 brought something genuinely new to a familiar reference. Until its release in 2022, the rose gold 5712 had been paired with a leather strap; the 5712/1R took it onto a full rose gold bracelet for the first time in the regular collection, alongside a brown sunburst dial that darkens towards the edge. That combination changes the feel of the 5712 without changing the layout that makes it so recognisable. The warmth of the dial and case gives more weight to its deliberately off-centre arrangement of power reserve, moonphase, date and small seconds, while the 40mm case remains just 8.52mm thick. Inside is the calibre 240 PS IRM C LU, built around the off-centre micro-rotor that has long allowed Patek to keep the 5712 so thin. A detail easily missed is the bracelet itself. In 2022, Patek introduced a new lockable version of its bracelet adjustment system, allowing an extra 2 or 4mm to be released from the clasp without adding or removing a link. Our Patek 5712/1R is presented in excellent condition, with only light signs of wear and remains unpolished.
