Kirsty Eaglesfield 2 Silver Caddy Spoons - Driftwood Handles

1 Edinburgh 2012 Fully Hallmarked Silver Sterling 925 2 Unmarked prototype Kirsty Eaglesfield 1 Length: 12 cm 2 Length: 9.5 cm Matt textured finish with driftwood handles These 2 prototype Caddy Spoons were designed exclusively for Styles Silver who commissioned them for British Silver Week 2010. I provided the driftwood that I found on the beach in Herne Bay, which is where I was born. She first made an unusual example (1) which was fully hallmarked. She based her design on an early Eastern example that would have been shipped in a tea chest. I asked her to make a more traditional one (2) and this arrived unmarked as she didn't have time to send to assay before the exhibition. I never sent it back in a tea chest to her for assaying. After successfully completing her 1st class honours degree at Edinburgh College of Art in 2008, Kirsty then went on to work in Schoonhoven, Holland on the Silver in Motion Program for a year. She worked as an Artist in Residence at Edinburgh College of Art until August 2010 and has now moved into her own space at The Precious Metals Workshop in Edinburgh. Much of her early work featured silver with driftwood.
