Mack
Meet Big Mack, a 3-year-old German Shepherd who is ready to find his forever home. Mack is a ball-loving, friendly boy who is looking for an active home where he will be included as part of the family. Mack loves people, especially if they play fetch; he can sometimes be a little rude in his greetings, jumping up to say hello, but this big, social boy just wants to make friends. Mack is cuddly and affectionate, he is a typical German Shadow that will follow his humans around the home. Mack has tested well with visiting children, however, will need close supervision especially when he has silly, excitable moments. Mack would be best suited to a home where everyone is over 5 years of age. Mack adores toys of all types, but squeaky balls have his heart; he is also food motivated and enjoys learning new things. Mack has been working on his basic commands and has great house manners, however when out and about his focus and impulse control leaves room for improvement. Mack needs to work on his engagement with his handler, going back to basics to develop the relationship between dog and human. Mack is a large, strong dog who pulls on lead, he will need a strong, capable handler that is willing to work on his leash manners and focus. We are told that Mack used to go to dog parks when he was younger… and it shows. Mack is extremely frustrated when he sees another dog, just wanting to get to them and say hello, he lacks impulse control and will bark and pull towards them. Up close, Mack is rude and lacks basic doggy manners, finding himself in trouble and being rightfully told off. Mack is not aggressive with others, just inexperienced; the experience he does have years ago was without boundaries, as a result he has developed bad habits and poor manners. Mack will need to work on his dog social skills overtime, we highly recommend he works with a trainer on this, he has potential to be around others but needs to learn what behaviours are and aren’t acceptable. For now, Mack will need to be the only dog in his new home. Mack is looking for a home without cats or other small pets. Mack is the type of dog who is happy with a walk, a game of fetch in the yard, and then a snooze by the couch. At home he is low maintenance and has been a good boy whilst his foster carer is at work, ready to play when they get home. Mack loves treats puzzles and toys in general, he doesn’t ask for too much and is a wonderful companion.
