About the Fish These are my Trout Goodieds (Illyodon Furcidens) from my home-bred line at High Desert Aquatics. These larger livebearers come from Mexico and have a striking resemblance to small trout. Males have yellow and black markings down their body and on their belly. Females are slightly less colorful and have less yellow on the body. These are one of the larger livebearers with adult females pushing 4” at times. They prefer clean, oxygenated and slightly cooler water in the high 60s to low 70s. This is a selectively bred, long-established captive line developed by Greg Sage of Select Aquatics. The goal of the line has been to emphasize the yellow and black markings and produce a consistent, recognizable look compared to standard stock. They are raised in normal Reno tap water (pH ~7.2-7.8) at 68–78°F on a varied diet of quality flakes, pellets, and frozen foods. These are hardy, active fish. They are truly “real world” fish—used to seasonal swings, normal tap water, and regular aquarium conditions, not pampered in ultra-controlled systems. What You’ll Receive -4 Juveniles in the 1” to 1.5” range -I will do my best to include both sexes but exact ratio is not guaranteed -Fish will be similar quality to the parents shown in the photos but will have slightly different coloring as they are younger fish (photos are of my actual breeding stock as well as the younger juveniles) -At least one extra fish will be included in case of DOA About High Desert Aquatics High Desert Aquatics is a small, hobby-scale fish room based in Reno, Nevada. All fish I sell are bred and raised by me in my tap water at normal home aquarium temperatures—real-world conditions, not pampered in doctored RO water or showroom systems. My fishroom experiences seasonal temperature swings, changing tap water and changing schedules. I work full-time and run this as a side hobby to support my fish addiction and my family, so I focus on a few select lines and keep quality high. Healthy, hardy, home-bred stock that will thrive for anyone is always the priority. Shipping & DOA Policy All fish, shrimp and snails are shipped free via UPS 2nd Day or upgraded to UPS Overnight for a flat $25. Both options ship in a well-insulated box with a heat pack if needed. Fish are bagged individually when possible, or in small groups of two, to reduce stress and limit potential losses. In the rare event of a DOA (dead on arrival), please send clear photos of the unopened bag within two hours of delivery for a refund on the lost livestock. Please let me know if there are any issues as soon as possible and I will do my best to make things right. Shipping days are Monday and Tuesday to reduce the chance of fish being stuck in transit over a weekend. Depending on your location, transit times are usually 2–4 days. If the weather is too hot or too cold, shipping may be delayed for the safety of the fish. I will reach out with an expected shipping plan after purchase. Shipping is available to the continental US only (no Alaska or Hawaii, sorry!). Support small-scale, hobby breeding—every fish is bred and raised by me in my fishroom! Please see my other listings for other fish I have available.
