"All have their hobbies" witch seal

This pendant was made from a wax seal from the 1840s. The seal has a joke on it: an image of a witch flying on her broomstick with the words "All have their hobbies." The witch is waving a walking stick, which is consistent with other illustrations of witches from the time. It may be a play on words- "hobby" historically referred to a horse or pony, although by the 1800s it also meant a leisure activity. This antique seal is very valuable to collectors and I had to look for years to find an original! Each pendant is created by pressing the seal into wax and then casting that wax in metal. They are not replicated with a mold, so each one has its own organic wax shape. Pendant size: appx 15 x 19mm Chain length: 18 inches Chain length is depicted here with a similar seal pendant. Materials This necklace is made entirely of sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper, which is added to make the metal more durable.
