"Deuces Wild" Wild Turkey Canvas Art Print

Turkey hunters love a pair of lonely two-year-olds. It’s the ultimate confidence boost on a mid-morning hunt to hear two longbeards hammer back at you simultaneously before you can even finish the last note of your yelp. Doesn’t matter how tired you are or how unsuccessful you’ve been—it’s a bigger jolt of energy than any gas station coffee or 24 oz. energy drink. It’s also amazing to me, from a biological perspective, how they can gobble at precisely the same time. So in this piece, I tried to capture that heart-stopping action and really show off the magic of the spring turkey woods. This pair of wild two-year-old birds have strutted into an opening, lit up by the morning sun, and announced their presence to everything within earshot. It’s one of those moments every turkey hunter lives for—the spring woods suddenly coming alive with the sound of two longbeards hammering in unison.
