Anko Torrentes 2024

Estancia Los Cardones is a high-altitude project in the up and coming region of Salta, founded by Jeff Mausbach and the renowned Argentine winemaker Alejandro Sejanovich. The Anko wines are coming from the Calchaqui Valley where extreme elevation, intense sunlight, and cold nights(thanks to the Andes) are creating fruit with remarkable aromatic intensity, all while maintaining a vibrant acidity. The Torrontes is sourced from their vineyard in Tolombon, at nearly 6000 feet elevation, and is entirely hand harvested. The nose is expressive with Jasmine and neroli jumping out of the glass, followed by grapefruit, ripe yellow peach, and a touch of lychee. Saline and mineral on the palate, with more of the grapefruit and lemon, which keep this wine from feeling perfumed and sweet. A wonderful modern example of Torrontes, aromatic yet built around acidity and structure.
