Following in the Footsteps of the Ancient Ones

Handmade indigenous artwork from the Wixárika (Huichol Tribe) This one-of-a-kind yarn painting is crafted by the visionary Wixárika artist and mara-akame (shaman), Eligio Carrillo. Eligio’s yarn paintings hold profound spiritual significance, serving as Nierikas, or sacred doorways to the divine—each piece is a passage into the spiritual world as envisioned by the shaman. Artist's Description: This is the journey of the drum celebration, where the Mara'akame begins his path to travel. The sacred arrows he presents belong to the ancient ones. Following in their footsteps, he finds his way, tending to each sacred part and delivering the offerings. Kauyumari blesses the journey with his power, and it is by that power that he travels on.
