Turtle Beach VelocityOne Dual Throttle
Turtle Beach VelocityOne Dual Throttle Thrust is the axis most sim pilots manage worst, because it is usually the one still living on a keyboard or a slider. The VelocityOne Dual Throttle fixes that with two independent levers, a lock that joins them for single-engine aircraft, and 10-bit Hall-effect sensing giving over 1,000 input counts per axis. Around the levers sit 35 programmable inputs and 7 axes in total, including a 10-bit base lever, a precision thumbstick, a textured wheel and a rear scroll wheel. That is enough to run flaps, trim, camera, speedbrake and weapon selection from the throttle hand alone, which is the whole argument for a dedicated throttle unit in the first place. Detent cartridges swap out so the physical stop you feel at afterburner, idle or reverse thrust matches the aircraft, and lever tension adjusts separately. It works with any flight stick on Windows PC over its own USB connection, or with the VelocityOne Flightstick II for Xbox on Xbox through a pass-through connection. The ones that do offer twin levers often tie you to a specific stick or a specific platform, so the throttle becomes a reason you cannot change anything else later. This one is deliberately agnostic. On Windows it takes its own USB connection and works alongside whatever stick you already own, so it slots into an existing setup rather than replacing it. The sensing is 10-bit Hall-effect, which is the right resolution for a lever whose useful travel is measured in thumb widths, and the interchangeable detent cartridges give you a mechanical reference at the thrust settings that matter instead of a number on a screen. If you do not yet have a stick, the VelocityOne H.O.T.A.S. for PC bundles this throttle with the Flightstick II and is the cheaper route to both. The rest of the flight sim throttle range covers quadrant-style alternatives for airliner flying. Twin levers, one lock, every aircraft type Unlocked, the two levers move independently, which is what makes engine-out practice, asymmetric thrust and twin-engine handling behave the way they should rather than the way a single axis pretends they do. Locked, they move as one. That covers singles, jets with a single throttle, and almost every space sim. Switching between the two is a physical action on the unit rather than a software mode, so you can change aircraft type between flights without touching a settings menu. A mechanical reference for the settings that matter Detents are the part of a throttle you feel rather than see. The cartridges swap, so the stop under your hand can sit at afterburner engagement for a fighter, at idle and reverse for an airliner, or at a drive threshold for a space sim. Lever tension adjusts separately from the detents. Set it light for fast, reactive throttle work, or heavier if you want the deliberate feel of a large aircraft and less chance of nudging a setting by accident. LED throttle bar indicators run alongside the levers so thrust position is readable at a glance, and on PC supported titles can drive those LEDs with sim-assigned data such as power level or shield status. 35 inputs within reach of the throttle hand The point of a dedicated throttle is not just the levers, it is everything you stop reaching for. 35 mappable inputs and 7 axes sit across the levers and the base, including a 10-bit base lever, a precision thumbstick, a textured wheel and a rear scroll wheel. Assign them to flaps, trim, speedbrake, camera, radio or weapon selection and the keyboard stops being part of the flight. The VelocityOne Flight Hangar app handles dead zones, response curves, lighting and aircraft-specific profiles, and it is available for both Xbox and Windows. Our expert take "The lockable twin levers are the reason to buy this, and after running it at our Dandenong showroom for a while the lock is the detail we keep coming back to. Independent thrust for twins and a single combined axis for everything else, changed with a physical lock rather than a software toggle. We also ran it on PC beside sticks from other brands and it slotted in without a fight." "Two things to know. The levers are 10-bit rather than the 16-bit sensing on the Flightstick II main axes, which is the correct call for a throttle but worth understanding. And on Xbox it only connects through the Flightstick II, so it is not a standalone console device." - Blake Sterling, Founder & CEO, Gamer Gear Direct Frequently asked questions Will it work with a flight stick from another brand? On Windows PC, yes. The Dual Throttle takes its own independent USB connection and presents as its own device, so it sits alongside whatever stick you already fly with. On Xbox it is different: there it connects through the VelocityOne Flightstick II for Xbox as a pass-through and will not work on its own. What is the difference between locked and unlocked levers?Unlocked, the levers move independently so you get true asymmetric thrust for twin-engine aircraft. Locked, they move together as a single throttle axis for single-engine aircraft and most space sims. The lock is a physical control on the unit. Why 10-bit sensing rather than 16-bit?Resolution should match the travel. A throttle lever moves through a long, deliberate arc, so 1,000 input counts across it is finer than a human hand can meaningfully divide. The 16-bit sensing on the VelocityOne Flightstick II for PC main axes exists because pitch and roll demand corrections orders of magnitude smaller. Can I change what the detents feel like?Yes. The detent cartridges are interchangeable, so you can set the physical stop for afterburner, idle or reverse thrust to suit the aircraft you fly most. Lever tension is a separate adjustment, so the weight of the throttle and the position of the stops are tuned independently.Do the LED indicators show real sim data?On PC, in supported titles, yes. They can be driven by sim-assigned data such as power level, shields or weapon status as well as showing thrust position. On Xbox they show thrust position on the lever. Can it be mounted in a cockpit?Yes. High-grip rubber feet hold it in place for desk use, and it has pre-drilled mounting holes with cockpit screws supplied for a permanent position. It also fits the VelocityOne Universal Sim Mount if you want an adjustable clamp instead.
