Feather Script - Original

Two angels rise, no feet beneath them, only the heat of the fire winding and swirling where legs might be. One is cloaked in patterned gold and rose, her wings outstretched and glowing, strange symbols written into the feathers as if hoping to be deciphered, waiting for someone patient enough to read them. The other, beside her, carries a quiet fullness in her middle, as if new life has already found its way into this grove before anything else has arrived. Their faces are pale and featureless in that same dreamlike way, more presence than portrait, dark haired and hooded in shadow beneath the eucalyptus canopy. The fire burns in the same low corner as its sister painting, orange and restless, but here it feels less like a hearth and more like a source, as if the flames themselves are lifting these figures up out of the embers and into the trees. Smoke curls the way their gowns curl, gold thread dissolving into leaf and branch until it's hard to say where fabric ends and foliage begins. Painted in the same dusk light, the same dusky pinks and blues, this feels like the other half of one long evening, as though both paintings caught two angels drifting through the same grove, one carried by a wing, the other carried by fire.
