Each mug is sound and usable, with a small flaw that differs from one to the next, usually in the glaze: a thin patch, a spot of extra texture, or a drip that has run thick. Four different glazes in one set: a mint green streaked with orange and yellow; a pink and lilac washed through with orange; a white run through with blue-grey; and a deep pink with rust orange and purple. All four run in long drips, stopping above a bare clay base. Each mug is made in cone 6 midfire stoneware with the glaze applied by hand, so the colour depth and finish are unique to every piece.
