Come along to our Mocktail Class Adaptogenic Mixology Class This is a great beginner class for people 19+ looking to build their zero-proof bartending skills! You'll learn what adaptogenic spirits are, get to know Bonbuz Slowburn (a spicy blood orange, grapefruit and jalapeño spirit with zero alcohol), and mix three drinks to sip and enjoy. It's perfect for anyone who loves a great cocktail without the alcohol, or who wants to impress guests with something new. This is a 90-minute class, taught by Amol from Søbr Market Burlington. In this class, you will learn: What adaptogens and nootropics are, and what makes a spirit "functional" What's inside Bonbuz Slowburn and what each ingredient does How to make 3 non-alcoholic cocktails that balance spice, citrus and sweetness You will go home with: A new understanding of adaptogenic and functional spirits An understanding of how to replicate the recipes at home Recipes for 3 drinks and their components (emailed to you at the time of booking) All ingredients and equipment for your class are provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you. The instructor will make sure you work at a pace that suits you. Meet the functional ingredients Bonbuz Slowburn gets its "functional" edge from two natural ingredients. 5-HTP is extracted from the seeds of Griffonia simplicifolia, a West African shrub, and is a building block your body uses to make serotonin, the brain chemical linked to mood and relaxation. Rhodiola, also known as "golden root," is a hardy plant from cold mountain regions and one of the best-known adaptogens, traditionally used to help the body cope with stress and fatigue. In class, Amol will explain how these ingredients work and why they're becoming popular in the zero-proof world. Please note: Because Bonbuz Slowburn contains 5-HTP and rhodiola, it isn't recommended if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you take antidepressants or other medication that affects serotonin.
