Ali Affleck's Rhythm Rascals

For years, Ali Affleck has been a wowing audiences as a vocalist and bandleader across the Scottish and international scenes, bringing a genuine warmth, natural energy and authenticity to early jazz and blues. For this year’s festival, she brings together a special international lineup of her Rhythm Rascals collective. The gig marks the Scottish debut of New York trumpeter Mike Davis—a musician with an incredibly intuitive feel for 1920s hot jazz. They are joined by the brilliant Argentine duo of Lucas Ferrari on piano and Fernando Montardit on guitar and banjo, and Scottish stalward Roy Percy on the Double Bass. This is a rare chance to hear some of the finest musicians in early jazz playing together on tour in Scotland. Expect a joyful celebration of 1920s and 30s New York and New Orleans, complete with a nod to Harlem legend Fats Waller. It’s classic music played with real heart, infectious swing, and zero pretension. Not to be missed.
