Cor Sacratissimum I

A compact heart occupies the centre of Cor Sacratissimum I, its rounded mass interrupted by a rising flame. The dark field compresses the surrounding space, while variations in red, yellow, and orange keep the image active across the textured canvas. The painting’s frontal construction recalls the economy of ex-voto imagery: an experience is condensed into a single, legible form. Within the Ex-votos series, Lima works with reduction and concentrated pictorial elements, allowing the image to remain direct without becoming fully descriptive.
