The Coronation ceremony would follow the noble traditions of kings and queens past, but the introduction of television cameras, beaming events to an estimated 27 million people gathered around television sets at home, added a most modern twist. We were home in time to see the ceremony on what was a new arrival, a television set. In the weeks that followed came films in glorious Technicolor to give us further glimpses of what was the most unforgettable spectacle of the second half of the twentieth century.
