Antique Ring Figural Renaissance Neo Renaissance Diamond Enamel pre Georgian (5612)
Antique Figural Ring. Diamond Enamel. It is very difficult to prove conclusively whether it originates from the Renaissance period or was made in the style at a later date. We believe it is from the period, but are open to opinions and views. It was bought in France. Measurements: approximately US size 6.5 Weighs 6.1grams. Colette with diamond is approx.3mm long. Description: The design of the ring draws the eye from the sides, up the shoulders to the apex, which consists of a rectangular, Colette -set diamond. A flat step below the straight sides of the gold Colette setting tops 4 flower-shaped sides. Modelled flowers were once fully enameled in deep blue, green and white, some of which remains to give an idea of the original colorful effect. The shoulders below this are in the form of wonderful figures of women, modelled almost in the round and enameled in white. Below this, inset enameled lines lead to the rest of the simple shank. A fascinating piece of history for the true collector. Marks: none. Metal is either low k gold or gold plated silver (testing is inconclusive). Condition: good considering the age. See details above and enlarged 'photos for specifics.
