Our Sangiovese is grown on the ancient Cambrian soils of the Camelback Range in Colbinabbin, Heathcote. These deep, mineral-rich soils—formed over 500 million years ago—provide a strong foundation for vine health and flavour concentration. The 2024 season in Heathcote was warm and relatively dry, leading to an earlier harvest and beautifully even ripening across the vineyard. The result is fruit with vibrant intensity, balanced natural acidity, and fine structural detail. The 2024 vintage spent 18 months in barrel, allowing the wine to settle into itself and build complexity without losing its brightness. It opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, and spiced plum, layered with savoury notes of dried herbs, tomato leaf, and a gentle earthiness. Subtle oak spice sits quietly in the background, while the tannins are fine, chalky, and structured—giving the wine its classic Sangiovese shape and a long, savoury finish. This is a wine made for the table. It pairs effortlessly with dishes like slow-cooked lamb ragu, wood-fired pizza with fennel sausage, or eggplant parmigiana. It’s equally at home alongside a generous antipasti spread of salami, prosciutto, olives, and hard cheeses—simple food, shared well. Enjoy now for its vibrancy, or cellar through to 2034 as it develops further depth and savoury nuance.
