This bowl was designed by René Lalique (1860-1945) and produced during his lifetime. The clear and frosted glass bowl has a sepia patina and is known as the 'Gui' pattern which translates to mistletoe in English. The Gui design was first introduced in 1921 which was during Lalique's lifetime, and we date this particular manufacture to circa 1930. The bowl is fully signed to the base 'R.LALIQUE' in raised lettering along with the engraved word 'France' slightly below. The number 3224 has also been hand engraved into the piece at the base which relates to the pattern number for the Gui design. The base has been beautifully rendered to allow sections of the mistletoe to form the feet for the bowl to stand on. The bowl presents in very good antique condition with no chips or cracks, however presents minor abrasions to the surface of the glass, and very very slight fleabites to areas of the design, commensurate with age and use. A really gorgeous piece of Lalique that would be a welcome addition to a seasoned collector's home or a beautiful gift for someone who likes fine things. Marked - 'R.LALIQUE France' and 'No 3224' the pattern number Measures - 8.5cm H x 20.5cm D
