Rocha Nai – Rock Climbing Guidebook for Galicia
This comprehensive guidebook describes the sport and trad climbing found in Galicia, a region located in the extreme northwest corner of Spain. The climbing in Galicia is characterized by high-quality granite rock with the crags often situated in dramatic coastal settings, nestled within lush, green forests or as rocky outcrops. There is a good mixture of well-bolted single-pitch sport routes and trad climbing (both single pitch and multi-pitch routes). The guidebook is divided into two volumes and covers 42 crags, based around the towns of A Coruna, Santiago, Pontevedra, Vigo, and Ourense. Some of the larger crags include Faro de Budiño, Monte Galiñeiro, Canon do Sil, and Cabo Prior. In total the guidebook covers around 2,800 routes that are shown on colour photo topos. For the sport routes the type of bolt is described along with the date it was open, and a subsequent re-equipping date if applicable. For each crag there is a location map and GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas. GPS co-ordinates are also given for each sector, and symbols are used to show approach time, style of climbing, orientation, and if it is child friendly. Unlike the hot, dry regions of southern Spain, Galicia offers cooler climbing, making it an ideal destination during the spring, summer and autumn months. This northwest corner of Spain is very quiet with no crowds, and offers a great climbing experience on granite rock, often close to the sea. Published in 2025 (revised 2nd edition) this guidebook is in Spanish text throughout, but a large amount of information is conveyed by symbols. Number of pages is 301 for volume 1, and 244 for volume 2. Size is 150mm x 210mm (A5). ISBN is 9788409739127.
