A Talisman from Fragments: Jewelry Workshop at Gobi Gallery in LA
Inspired by the work of Christine Yerie Lee, this workshop invites participants to create a small silver talisman through the idea of the monster as a figure of protection, adaptation, and becoming. Working with silver clay and a selection of natural materials—plants, seeds, and rice—participants will create a wearable object through collage, imprint, and layering. The workshop centers on attentive making, personal resonance, and quiet reflection. Participants are also invited to an optional walkthrough of Christine Yerie Lee’s exhibition, Staring at the Sun, following the workshop. No prior jewelry experience is required. What’s included in the workshop: ♦ All the materials you need to make a pendant ♦ A finished silver pendant with a silver chain ♦ Tea and light refreshments (All materials that we are using in the workshop are non-toxic.) You will learn how to: ♦ Make a mold out of textured materials. ♦ Imprint the mold using silver clay. ♦ Fire the silver clay piece and turn it into solid silver. ♦ Refine and finish the silver piece.
