Faces of Frida: Applique and Embellishment - 6/21

Join us for our Faces of Frida workshop that celebrates the beloved Mexican artist through adornment of her portrait.This class explores the technical and intuitive aspects of applique and embellishment. Learn how to combine digitally printed fabric, yarn, thread, and trimmings to create you one of a kind Frida Kahlo 5x7 wall hanging. Students will learn the basics of textural design, various embroidery stitches, how to attach trimmings, and how to stretch fabric on a wood panel. The class will also cover a basic history of Frida Kahlo’s life and artistic influence to provide inspiration throughout the workshop. All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own sewing notions or any fabric scraps. No experience needed! Sunday, June 21 11 - 1 PM Ticket: $50 Allie Ancel (she/her) is printmaker, fiber artist and art educator living in LA. Her brand, Pink Door Store, carries unique stationery and prints that are inspired by vibrant 90’s style, bold textile patterns, and her time spent in nature. Her love for vintage textiles is reflected in her use of floral motifs, textured embossing, and stitched mixed media collages.
