Clay Sculpture
Laura Rule (b. 1975) is a British-born artist based in Los Angeles and the nearby San Bernardino Mountains, California. She hand-builds ceramic sculptures as an intuitive, in-the-moment response that translates unseen energy into material form. The pieces depict a rhythmic conversation, exploring a connection with a reality beyond the observable physical universe. Layered coils of clay are shaped into ambitious abstract forms. Each piece leans, twists, or lifts on the edge of balance. The surfaces hold visible seams, stains bleed, and disrupted glazes pool in deep grooves, creating veins of complex emotional maps. Her sculptures invite inquiry, and her vessels hold emotion only. The forms become frequency; the art is a living conduit for connection and expression.
