From the 1930s to the late 1960s, direct dyes and sulfur dyes were mainly used for sweatshirts. The principle behind the fading of vintage clothing is thought to be the oxidative coupling of oxygen in the air with the amino acids holding the dye, causing hydrolysis and turning into carbon, leading to decay. REMI RELIEF's SP processing recreates this natural principle, using traditional direct dyes combined with oxygen to slowly fade the dye over a long period.
