1942 Glossy Black Remington Rand Streamliner portable manual typewriter with case
This is the gorgeous Art Deco machine, and it's essentially the culmination of Remington's streamlined design language from the late 1930s. Remington introduced its streamlined Model 5 body in late 1935, probably designed by noted industrial designer Oscar Bruno Bach. This was Remington's entry into the Art Moderne aesthetic sweeping consumer products — rounded, flowing lines meant to evoke speed and modernity. The Streamliner itself debuted in February 1941 as a distinct model: Serial numbers B100000–B121199 Only 21,200 made before production stopped in March 1942 (wartime factory conversion) Original Price: $49.50 Made in USA
