Antique Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Vase Floral Bird Design

On offer is a beautiful antique early 20th century Chinese cloisonne enamel vase decorated with flowering branches and a bird against a dense black ground with fine gilt wire work. The vase displays a traditional floral design with colourful blossom heads and elegant proportions, finished with rich blue enamel to the base interior and gilt rims. Chinese cloisonne became highly sought after in the West during the late 19th and early 20th century, particularly during the Art Deco and Chinoiserie periods when many pieces were converted into lamps. This example has been drilled through the base, a common period alteration from the 1920s when Asian decorative interiors became fashionable. Aside from the drilled hole, the vase remains in good condition with attractive colour and detailed enamel work throughout. A fine example of antique Chinese cloisonne that still displays beautifully today.
