Jean Pierre Robinot - Bistrologie 2022 (ONE PER ORDER)

Jean-Pierre Robinot farms a handful of old vineyards in the Loire Valley, on a mosaic of clay, limestone, flint and tuffeau. This quiet corner of the Loire is cooler and wilder than its more famous neighbours, producing wines of tension, energy and unmistakable mineral character. Beneath the vines lies a network of ancient limestone caves where Robinot ages his wines slowly and patiently. Fermentations can stretch on for months, sometimes years, guided only by the rhythm of the cellar. This Bistrologie 2022 is a single varietal wine from some of his best vineyards. The majority of these vines are over 40 years old, leading to more concentrated grapes and a lower yield. Here, the variety in question is his Chenin Blanc We have not tried this one, but what we do hear is it has zippy acidity and electric minerality that carry this wine to the very end! Notes of pear, lemon and even hinting at tropical (mango, passionfruit). Despite the acidity, we do get a notion of creaminess that complements the wine's body.
