Scout's Honor | Skyrail Japanese Oxford
Scout's Honor is not your average Oxford Cloth Button Down. The fabric is woven at a century-old mill in Japan's Hyogo Prefecture, using the ancient Banshu-ori tradition — each thread dyed before it meets the loom — then washed until the weave opens and the hand turns cloudlike. The result is a Japanese Oxford that feels like it has been yours for years. The inspiration is vintage preppy — the kind of Oxford you find thrown into the backseat of a Volvo station wagon or stuffed into a duffel for a post-match G&T in the summer. The block is sized up from modern dress shirts for a more generous shirt - not oversized, but built with ease for a laissez-faire quality. It is inspired by the dress shirts worn by our fathers and grandfathers, a more traditional cut that reads distinctly modern. We like this one partially tucked for a sense of casual je ne sais quoi, or fully tucked with the back gently billowing out. The exterior elbow patch adds reinforcement where you need it most, with another discreet reinforcement at the hem; the locker loop at the back neck is ready to be hung on a hook at the gym. This is a washed program, which means there will be some natural variance in measurements between the stripe and milk — the air between the fibers closes up during washing, allowing them to bloom, and depending on the color and depth of dye, each will shrink at a slightly different rate, part of the mysterious beauty of this cloth. If you tend to prefer a roomier fit, you will be happy taking your regular size. If you have measurement questions, please reach out — I am always happy to help.
