Oenothera macrocarpa --Fluttermill Evening Primrose--
Sometimes called "Ozark Sundrops". Erect biennial with large, fragrant, bright-yellow flowers. Grows 2-5' H x 1-2' W. Full sun, well-drained soil, and drought-tolerant once established, suitable as a groundcover in poor, stony soil which does not become waterlogged in winter, in full sun. Attracts pollinators (including night-flying sphynx and hummingbird moths). Native to Mexico and Texas. Macrocarpa means "big fruit", for its visually interesting 4-lobed pods that are great in fresh or dried flower arrangements, though this plant does not bear edible fruit.
