Skein - woodcut of geese

Here is my woodcut print of The Skein, a flight of geese over marshlands. It is my first print using traditional cherrywood blocks, and as such it has a unique character when compared to my other woodcuts and linocuts. there is a certain softness to prints made with cherrywood and I will be exploring this further, if I can find more of this quality wood. The print is on handmade Himalayan Mitsumata Washi, a wonderfully strong yet supple paper, much prized by the Japanese. the print is on A3 sized paper and will give you the idea of print area.
