Large Ilias Lalaounis 1970s Mystic Pendant
A large 1970s pendant, modeled in 18k yellow gold by the beloved Greek designer Ilias Lalaounis. This circular pendant was made with a deeply textured surface (twig-like) and slightly irregular edges, to lend it an organic appearance. Inside its perimeter a triangle, a smaller circle, and a pair of ray-like forms are held, giving the impression of a mountain, with a sun shining at its peak. One might also see an effigy of a woman, here, with outstretched arms. We love this pendant for its big, witchy vibes! The broadly symbolic quality of its symbols, and their obvious connection to the natural world, makes us think of The Wicker Man (1973) and other, less-frightening mystical stuff, too! This is marked 750 for purity, and with the Ilias Lalaounis pictograph. It hangs from an oversized suspension ring. This looks great worn with our Brent Neale daffodil pendant. Materials 18k gold Age c. 1970 Dimensions Total drop (including suspension ring) measures approx 1 5/8"; pendant measures 1 1/4"; weight is 7 grams.
