Silver square band ring with 2 peridots
This ring started with a piece of silver I didn’t quite remember buying. A length of 3mm square wire that had been sitting in my drawer for some time — and one of those moments where you look at something and think, “that could be a ring.” I kept the square profile and added hammered lines all the way around to give it a more contemporary feel. Then came the stone. The bright green of these peridots immediately stood out, and instead of choosing just one, I set two — placed at a slight diagonal to break away from symmetry and make the whole piece a bit more unexpected. It’s a slightly quirky one, but I think it works. This ring is currently a size S but can be made to order in any size. This piece is part of my 52 Ring Project, a personal challenge inspired by rediscovering a long-forgotten collection of gemstones. After moving to Dorset, I unpacked two boxes of stones that had remained untouched for several years — some of which I have owned for over fifteen years. After carefully sorting and organising them by type, size and colour, I decided to bring them back into use by creating one ring each week over the course of a year. Each ring in the collection is made using a different gemstone, giving every piece its own character and story.
