BERRY BOWL ONDO
Wheel thrown bowl with holes in base and handles added, made from an iron rich, flecked clay. Each handle is hand formed using roullettes and each one is different. Glazed in an Ash wood glaze with black oxide abstract marks. This bowl is perfect for washing one or two portions of berries, with sieve like holes in the base and a carved foot to allow water to drain away. All my work is made in my garden studio in Brighton. Each piece is made using a mix of clays that give me the warmth and homeliness I’m seeking in my work. I mix my own glaze using ash that has been collected from our wood burning stove over the winter. The ash comes from the wood of Ash trees that are sourced locally in East Sussex. Marks are made using a mix of oxides, mainly consisting of iron oxides with a small percentage of other oxides added (all of which are ethically sourced). Handwashing is recommended, to avoid chipping. However, all my products are dishwasher and microwave safe. The plate may also be heated and cooled gently in an oven. Avoiding thermal shock. Stoneware. Made in the United Kingdom. Each piece has been made by me, by hand. Due to the handmade nature, there are variations and irregularities in colour, size and shape and the plate shown may not necessarily be the plate you receive although all plates are similar. 12cm ⌀ x 8cm H (approx).
