Purified Raw Linseed Oil
Our oil begins as flaxseed oil, pressed from raw flax grown in the Dakotas. The oil is then refined through settling, water-washing, and fine filtration. This process removes excess plant solids and mucilage, improving clarity and curing consistency. The oil is naturally solvent-free and classified as zero-VOC. Linseed oil has been used for centuries as a traditional finish for wood, protecting tools, furniture, and built surfaces while allowing the material to remain breathable and repairable. It is well suited to solid hardwoods, where it enhances grain, deepens tone, and can be renewed over time. Ours is not boiled and contains no added driers. It cures slowly, typically becoming dry to the touch in about three days and continuing to harden over weeks or months. Like other drying oils, it oxidizes and cures through exposure to air, gradually polymerizing within the wood fibers. The result is a low-sheen surface that develops with use without forming a plastic film. Each bottle contains 16 fluid ounces.
