Foraging Basket Workshop
Create your own woven foraging basket in this four-hour hands-on basketry workshop at House of Windsor Studio. Using natural round rattan core, participants will learn foundational weaving techniques to create a flat, lightweight basket suited to gathering herbs, flowers, produce, or small found objects. The workshop focuses on rhythm, tension, shaping, and construction, with guidance through each stage of the weaving process. Participants will learn how to form a spiral woven base, integrate structural supports, and construct an elegant wrapped handle using simple hand techniques and natural materials. The finished basket is both functional and sculptural, with subtle variations that reflect the individuality of each maker. Each basket will be finished with Chameleon Wax, enhancing the natural colour and texture of the rattan while adding a soft protective sheen. Tea, coffee, and homemade cake are served in the adjoining kitchen space during the workshop, creating a relaxed and supportive studio atmosphere. Beginner friendly, small-group, and all materials included.
