Sojeau Chardonnay has been the onset of harvest for us in each of the last four years, so it felt appropriate that it christened our new space as the first fruit on September 13th. The 2024 version will be our fifth from this small block at the southern base of the vineyard, with each year bringing a new level of structure and intensity, giving this version lots of verve. The final blend coming from both 500L and 228 L barrels, with the new selection filled directly from pressing. After a lengthy malolactic stretching into Spring, the wines aged on their lees for several more months before a transfer to tank in early September, finishing the aging in stainless steel over harvest. After slow clarification and a final gentle filtration, the bottling was done in cool and dry conditions at the winery on January 22nd, 2026. Powerful fruit perfume, with lemon peel, spiced tangerine and floral aromas dominating. Lift and drive simultaneously moving toward a concentrated and juicy entry. Deft but rich, the finish is all about finesse and detail. Moderate alcohol, noticeable frame, and never heavy despite a lovely creaminess in the mid palate. The ’24 shows so much balance and freshness, with the signature arc and curve that Sojeau seems to provide in both Pinot and Chard. 70 cases and 12 magnums produced; 12.6% alcohol $65 per bottle
