Querciabella Mongrana Bianco 2024
Maremma has a real buzz. Its rugged coastline, fertile plains, and rolling hills, shaped by the Mediterranean climate, made it a coveted destination for those who recognised the richness of its land. Querciabella arrived in Alberese, Grosseto, in the late 90s, eager to unlock its vast viticultural potential. They trialled biodynamic viticulture before evolving our plant-based system, working with a range of grape varieties to produce both traditional and innovative styles. This spirit of experimentation continues to inspire wines that satisfy the discerning modern palate while remaining true to the independent spirit that animates the region. In 2020, captivated by the intensity of flavours that characterise Vermentino, we created Mongrana Bianco. With its fragrant profile, it mirrors its red siblings and perfectly embodies the qualities we seek from Maremma, alongside the purity of fruit that defines our wines. The vibrant aromatic notes of citrus, golden plums, peaches, and wild herbs anticipate a lively and well-balanced sip, with a delicate saline touch that lingers, making it the perfect companion for Mediterranean cuisine and sunset aperitifs. Tasting Notes Mongrana Bianco gleams with a bright straw-yellow colour and golden hues. The nose opens with fresh citrus and tangy yellow fruit, accompanied by delicate floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing, with vibrant acidity providing structure and balance. Subtle herbal notes of rosemary and thyme add complexity, while a touch of salinity enhances its Mediterranean character, leading to a clean, elegant finish. On the palate, Mongrana offers a juicy, refreshing sip with soft, well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and savoury, with a persistent mineral note that lingers. Food Pairing Mongrana Bianco is a wine for casual, fun get-togethers, shared with tasty appetizers. It is great for spring and summer al fresco dining when vegetables such as asparagus, peas and fava beans bring vibrancy and vitality to the table. Its versatility makes it even wonderful with artichokes, traditionally a tough pairing. Pasta al pesto · Peas and Mint risotto · Grilled chicken with lemon and herbs · Pan-seared scallops · Asparagus and Shrimp Risotto with Lemon and Tarragon · Fresh summer rolls · Thai mango salad · Fattoush and tabbouleh with hummus and pita bread
