Quintin…”​ ​​ Description: Antique woodcut map showing the city of Saint-Quentin surrounded by the army of King Philip II during the battle in the French Wars of Religion. The map depicts the city fortifications, the French defending forces, the surrounding encampments of the invading Spanish army, and the nearby river landscape. Map comes from the German edition of Sebastian Münster’s Cosmography, titled “Cosmographey oder beschreibung aller Länder, Herrschafften, fürnemmsten Stetten, geschichten, gebreüchen, handtierungen &c.”, published in 1598 by Heinrich Petri in Basel.
