Sewing for Your Home with Aileen (4x Tuesdays)
Four weeks, beginning Tuesday 8th September, 6pm-9pm (then 15th, 22nd & 29th September). Great for improvers and adventurous beginners who can already sew the basics! We'll make some fun items for your home or for gifting to others, including placemats, a cushion and cute pinny... but make no mistake, as usual with Aileen's classes they'll be packed with plenty of skills to help take your sewing to the next level. This IMPORTANT: Please check here before booking as once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. SUITABILITY: If you are fairly new to sewing but to move on and tackle more adventurous projects, this is a great course for you. You do need to know how to thread (and re-thread) a machine, sew a straight seam allowance, start and finish a seam securely, and basic trouble-shooting when you have a problem at the machine. The basics! If you've never used a sewing machine before, it would be best to join our "Learn to Sew" course first. This class is suitable for adults only, age 16+. WHAT'S INCLUDED: Professional tuition by Aileen Patterns & info so that you can make the projects again Use of our Janome digital sewing machines and studio equipment Endless encouragement and advice! WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING: Start with half-a-metre each of two different 100% cotton fabrics (1m total, quilt-weight type). Prints that work nicely together are ideal, because our first project, the placemats, will be reversible. If you wish to use something other than the recommended fabric, please check with us BEFORE the class as the weight and composition of the fabric is specific to each project. You will be advised of any further fabric requirements and notions as the weeks progress so that you can choose the right type of fabric for the perfect end result! Machine-sewing thread (sew-all polyester thread or quality cotton is recommended). Basic sewing kit (bobbins, fabric scissors, tape measure, seam ripper, pins etc.) Bring a notebook to jot down measurements, instructions and any future fabric requirements. STUDIO ACCESS: The Studio at Sew Yarn Crafty is accessed from the main shop down a flight of stairs with alternative access direct to the basement for anyone requiring an entrance without steps. If you do have any accessibility needs or questions, please drop us an email. When attending any class, we will meet you in the shop 10 minutes before the start time. If you are running late and arrive to a closed front door, please go to the side alley (Wilson's Close) to the side entrance (with the bright pink door!) and ring the doorbell.
