2024 'a sandwich at noon' Chardonnay / Syrah.

FARM Organic fruit from Toolamba (Yorta Yorta Country). The last harvest before the vineyard was ripped out. GRAPES 67% Chardonnay + 37% Syrah. Wild fermented. Zero additions. Zero sulphur. Unfined. Unfiltered. 11.5% Alc/vol. FIELD Wild fermented — Chardonnay in barrel, Syrah in the open air — then barrel-aged for two years. Hand-bottled by gravity. TASTING Like licking the inside of an electrified barrel. Oxidative plummy vibes, pears, pomegranates and umeboshi acid. Creamy, cinnamony, bay. Stewed apples and apricots. DRINKING NOTE We love how red/white blends grow. This is still an electric wild child now, but we expect it will continue to evolve into new harmonies — new territories — as it develops. Also one to chill if that's your thing; it's mostly Chardonnay. Label art by Mat Bate.
